Week Five Roundup
West Virginia Commit Julian Miller Leads
the Cougars Past the Tigers!
Beechcroft improved to (2-0) in the North division
and (3-2) overall, setting the stage for a huge
match up in week six with rival Brookhaven who
shares the same record of (2-0) and (3-2).   A win
by either team can put them back in the playoff
hunt. Also in week six Marion Franklin will travel to
Eastmoor, both teams are (2-0) and (4-1).  A
playoff birth and the South division title may be on
the line in this one.

Independence 34 - Africentric 20
Independence escaped Africentric with a win, that was much closer than the 34-20 score would
indicate.  The Sixers were led by junior Luther Nicholas who ended the evening with 368 yards and 4
touchdowns on 37 carries, bringing his season total to 828 yards and 6 touchdowns.  The Nubians
received a gutsy performance by Senior Bernie Agnew.  Agnew just about did it all, returning a kick 90
yards for a touchdown and running for a 25 yard touchdown from the quarterback position.

Whetstone 42 - Linden 14
A game that was tied at half 14-14 turned into a blowout as Whetstone scored 14 points in the third and
fourth quarters each.  The Braves scored on five rushing touchdowns and on a interception return of
34 yards by Marcus Willis.

Marion Franklin  34 - West 6

Brookhaven 40 - Centennial 21
Centennial's Tyrell Richardson ran back a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown, his second of the season.
His effort was no match for the 34 first quarter points scored by Brookhaven.  The Bearcats got
production from several players but were led by Cameron Brown's 2 rushing touchdowns of (58,13).

Eastmoor 32 - Walnut Ridge 14
The high powered Warrior offense has another solid outing putting up 32 points on a very solid Ridge
team.  Chandler Tennant was in attendance:

Justin Booker of Eastmoor Academy ran in a one yard touchdown. Matt Marr of Walnut Ridge scored on a one yard run
as they had to drive down the Eastmoor defense. Dion Sink ran in a two point conversion and tied the game at eight in
the first quarter. Terrance Drakeford of Eastmoor threw a 32 yard pass to Aaron Mackey on the forth down in the second
quarter. He made the catch over two Walnut Ridge defenders. Pead of Eastmoor scored on 4th and goal he caught a
pass from Drakeford. Tywon Walton of Walnut Ridge had a great catch from Sink he was on his way to score right before
he was stripped and fumbled as Pead of Eastmoor recovered the ball. Dion Sink of Ridge ran in a touchdown for two
yards. Pead ran a kick return right back at Ridge for 89 yards and a score.

South 40 - Briggs 12
The Bulldogs improved to (2-0), (3,2). The night did not start well for the Dawgs, as Brigg's Shawn
Beasy scored the first touchdown of the game on a 25 yard run.  South would bounce back behind by
Stephon Gregory's 277 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Northland 24 - Mifflin 6
Nortland gets its second consecutive win over a struggling Mifflin Squad.   Andy Adu-Boffour opened
the scoring with a 32 yard field goal.  Mifflin would bounce back and actually take a 6-3 lead into
halftime.  The Northland offense put up 21 second half points.  Senior Keith Bosley rushed for two
touchdowns on the evening.  Junior Quarterback Ben Bennet hooked up with Chris Washington on a
13 yard pass.
