Week Ten Roundup
Eastmoor Academy 49
Africentric 22
Over the holidays some teens may ask for the iPod; if you were to ask football coaches, what
they want it is the "iPead". The iPead (a.k.a. Isaiah Pead) is a junior running back, for the
Eastmoor Warriors, who rushed for 268 yards and three scores. Oh, and after Africentric
standout out Bernie Agnew put his team up 8-0 on a touchdown run, Pead returned the ensuing
kickoff 85 yards for the touchdown. Pead added a pick on the defensive side of the ball and
nearly took a punt return to the end zone. The Nubians were led on this night by Agnew who
rushed for three touchdowns in his high school finale. For the Warriors, they move on to a
match up with New Lexington in the D4 playoffs. The Nubians end the season at 4-6; but unlike
in seasons past, they have victories to look back and build off of. Along with winning four
games, the Nubians were close to winning all but two of their other six match ups of the season.

What an impressive second half of the season the Punchers put together. After starting 0-5,
they reeled off five straight wins to finish the season 5-5 (5, 2). Senior Cornell Jones ended his
high school career in style scoring the game's lone touchdown giving the Punchers a 6-0 win.
Don't feel too sorry for the Bearcats; going 6-4 (5, 2) is not something you will probably see for
some time to come. The Bearcats were a young team made of several underclassmen who
played huge roles on the team. Expect the Bearcats to be contending for the North again next
year and remember in 2007 they will be back in D2.

A rivalry is fittingly settled by one point on Friday night, when the Braves and Stars. Scoring was

mud with all the points being scored in the second quarter. Centennial would strike first taking a
6-0 lead after a missed extra point. Whetsone's Herb Cornell found the end zone from 26 yards
out and Tanner Furno added the extra point, giving the Braves the one point advantage.

take a 6-0 lead in the yards and Brandon Rice finished with 165 rushing yards and first quarter,
but they would not score again. Dion Sink of one touchdown.
Walnut Ridge scored two of the three Scot rushing
touchdowns; the most impressive being a 75 yard scamper from his quarterback position. Sink
finished with 125 rushing yards and Brandon Rice finished with 165 rushing yards and one
touchdown.

East 18
Linden 6
The usual suspects were in attendance as East edged Linden 18-6. Casey Hood hit Derrick
Chattman on a simple swing pass and after making a few people miss, he sprinted to the end
zone giving his team the early 6-0 lead. East senior Willie Poindexter and his power running
style better suited the elements. Poindexter scored three times on the evening from 1, 3, and 5
yards out. Poindexter's running mate Jonathan Willoughby added 200 yards rushing for the
Tigers. However, Linden, 0-10 (0-7), has a lot of positives to build off of for next season as they
return most of their starters. East on the other hand will have to replace a talented group of
seniors who went 5-5 (4-3) this season.

Marion-Franklin 21
South 13
Marion Franklin and South played a rivalry game that was well worth the five dollar ticket price.
After a Josh Anderson touchdown run and a Jeremy Hill touchdown reception, the Red Devils
took a commanding 14-0 lead into halftime. The Bulldogs came out fired up in the second half
knowing a win could mean a trip to the playoffs. Senior running back Stefan Gregory busted two
60 yard plus touchdown runs for the Bulldogs. However, a missed extra point left South trailing
by one point entering the fourth quarter. Jeremy Hill would find Mark Thorpe in the end zone for
a 6 yard touchdown pass, giving the Red Devils the lead for good and propelling them to a
number one seed in the D2 playoffs. South finishes the season 6-4 with some close losses to
very good teams. Three of South's four losses were by 8 points or less.

West 14
Briggs 0
West's Elisha Merchant ran for 171 yards and a touchdown. The West "D" scored a safety and
a defensive touchdown for the second week in a row.

Beechcroft 8
Northland 0
On an evening that saw less than 250 yards total offense from both teams combined, the
Cougars win the City North crown. Beechcroft's Marvin Stewart led the way with 88 rushing
yards and the game's lone touchdown. Both Northland and Beechcroft return a lot of players
next year, including quarterbacks Ben Bennett and Marvin Stewart. Next year, this game could
again settle the City North winner.
