Hilliard Davidson (1-1) @ Brookhaven (1-1)
On a perfect night for college football we were privileged to see a classic
O.C.C., City league showdown.  Though the Bearcats fell short in the
outcome, they gained the respect of the Davidson team.  Early in the game,
Brookhaven marched inside the Davidson 30 yard-line only to come up
empty each time.  Davidson stayed constant and methodically moved the
ball up the field on a second quarter drive that was capped by a Connor
Dietz 6 yard touchdown run.

In the second half Brookhaven came out with a bit more intensity than they
had in the first half.  Led by Rodney "Speedy" Stewart's 180 yards rushing.,
he would score on runs of 75 and 3 yards.  The second touchdown was
followed by a missed point after try.

In the long run, the kicking game cost the Bearcats the game.  Along with
the missed P.A.T., they had two field goals blocked in the first half.  This is
truly a game of inches as the Davidson P.A.T. was tipped by a Brookhaven
player, yet it still found its way through the uprights.   Next week, Brookhaven
will play Dayton Chaminade and have another chance to get a big win that
could lead to points in playoff positioning.  A win week three is important
due to the fact that week four begins league play.  A win versus Chaminade
and a 6-1 or better record in the City, and the Bearcats should be back in
the post season.
Eastmoor (2-0) @ Whitehall (0-2)
Will the next Eastmoor opponent please bring a fire hose to stop Isaiah
Pead, because he is on fire.  Pead followed last week's seven touchdown
performance with a five TD and 216 yard effort versus Whitehall.  Juniors
Ma'lon Johnson and Alex Coleman hooked up for a 20 yard touchdown
pass in the first half and Vince Williams scored on a five yard run in the
second as Eastmoor cruised to 47-8.

Centennial (0-2) @ Africentric (2-0)
The Stars are just looking to find any positives after they were held to a
shutout by host Africentric.  The Nubian's defense outscored Centennial
12-0, on interception returns by Breaker Heller and Tim Mapp.

On offense, the Nubians were led by Ryan Smoot and Victor Graham, who
combined for nearly 200 yards rushing.  Next Saturday, Africentric travels to
Canton to play Timken, with a chance to go 3-0.

Independence (0-2) @ Northland (1-1)
The Sixer were much improved in week two, bouncing back from a 34-0
spanking at the hands of Beechcroft.  The Sixers even took an early second
half lead behind a four yard Luther Nicholas touchdown run.  Northland
would quickly tie the game at 6-6, on the teams second field goal of the
game.  The score would remain the same until Travis Byrdsong hauled in
his third touchdown pass of the season, followed by the extra point the
Vikings would lead 13-7, and that is all they would need.

Teays Valley (1-1) @ Beechcroft (1-1)
Nobody gave Teays Valley a chance in this game and boy were the wrong.
After scoring the first touchdown on a Marvin Stewart to Ron Walton pass,
Beechcroft led 6-0.  Back stormed the Vikings of Teays Valley, answering
with a touchdown of their own.  Beechcroft would score again on a 15 yard
run by Wallace Hale, but that would be the last points for the Cougars as
Teays valley went on to score nineteen unanswered points.

West (1-1) @ East (0-2)
West was back to gunslinging again, led by another 200 plus yards
passing by quarterback Eric Stewart.  East fought hard and kept the game
close, but the West passing attack was just too much to overcome.
Walnut Ridge (1-1) @ Westland (0-2)
Ridge proved they can be a consistent football team.  After letting one slip
away last week the Scots pounded Westland 49-0.  Ridge's defense was
the story of the game, holding Westland to -2 yards total offense.
Quarterback Alvin Busbee, who made plays with his feet last week, threw for
three touchdowns.  Brandon Rice added 151 rushing yards for the Scots
and defensive back Chris Harvey added interceptions 3 and 4.

Marion-Franklin (1-1)@ Mifflin (0-2)
After two weeks, Mifflin can't be happy.  The Punchers have been outscored
106-6 in the first two games.  Marion Franklin was able to get back on track
after the disappointing season opener to Trotwood Madison.  Bobby Harris
led the way for the Red Devils, rushing for 119 yards, a touchdown and a
touchdown reception.

South (0-2) @ Linden (1-1)
The streak is over as Linden beats south in a major way.  Linden was
paced by Marvin Demby's stellar play on both sides of the ball.  Not only did
Demby rush for 195 yards and 23 TD's, he scored on a three yard fumble
return.

The Bulldogs have some real soul searching to do, after losing their first
two game to teams that went a combine 1-19 last season.

Briggs (0-2) @ Franklin Heights (2-0)
After going 0-10 in 2006, 2007 is getting off to the same kind of result for
Briggs.  Two weeks gone, yet no points scored by the Bruins.  It only gets
harder for Briggs as they will play division one powerhouse Hilliard Darby.

Whetstone (1-1) @ Central Crossing (1-1)
Though the result was a loss, the Whetstone Braves have been impressive
thus far in the season.  They followed up their week one win with a gutsy
performance against Central crossing.  Central stormed out to a 12-0 lead,
but the Braves would fight back.  First a 29 yard Herb Cornell kick and then a
touchdown by Michael Haynes.  Whetstone was even driving late, but threw
an interception to kill the drive.
