West 7 - Africentric 6
After starting 3-0 against lesser competition Africentric fell just short of 4-0,
losing a defensive battle. Many believed this would be a high scoring
game, but obviously that was not the case. West only has two loses, those
both being by seven points or less. For the Cowboys senior Leon Brihm
hauled in his 5th touchdown reception of the season on a Eric Stewart
pass. Stewart has 10 passing touchdowns on the season. After trailing
7-0, the Nubians scored on a two yard Ryan Smoot run, but missed the two
point attempt.
Eastmoor 35 - Briggs 0
Isaiah Pead has been running like a wild horse, and he has yet to be
tamed. Pead turned in another stellar performance gaining 239 yards and
five touchdowns on just 19 carries. The Eastmoor defense was also
impressive, holding their third opponent of the season to eight points or
less. Pead has rushed for 200 plus yards in his last nine regular season
games.
Independence 42 - South 22
Both of these teams desperately needed a win, and it was the 76ers that
prevailed. Independence running back, Luther Nicholas seems to be back
on track, scoring three touchdown in Friday night's contest. South had a
solid performance from Dominique Chandler who rushed for two
touchdowns.
Marion Franklin 10 - Walnut Ridge 7 (OT)
Marion Franklin prevails in overtime off a Chris Tabor field goal. The game
was a defensive struggle although Brandon Rice had 100 yards rushing for
the Scots, as did Bobby Harris, for the Red Devils.
Brookhaven 55 - Whetstone 0
The 2007 season has been a coming out party for Rodney Stewart. In
week four, he appears to be in full stride, rushing for 248 yards, 5 TDs on
just 15 carries, as his Bearcats defeated Whetstone.
Mifflin 28 - Centennial 21
In a battle of 0-3 teams, someone had to get the victory. In this one, it would
be Mifflin, led by Adrian Arter, who rushed for 79 yards, 3 TDs on 23 carries.
Beechcroft 32 - Linden 0
The Cougars used solid defense and a potent running attack to get back on
track. The running attack was led by BJ Watkins and Darian Cordell, who
had a combined 167 yards rushing.
Northland 28 - East 6
James Jones and 'Dre Brown connected trhough the air three times, for
Viking Touchdowns. East was unable to stop the passing attack all night
and the Vikings improve to 2-0.
