1. Marion Franklin
21-0 in the last three years in the City League South, along with an undefeated record
against the North Division in that same span makes it hard not to have the Red Devils
#1. Some may argue Marion Franklin lost too many seniors, but haven't they lost a large
number of seniors every year? The number of total players and excellent coaching
make Marion Franklin our #1 team heading into next season.
2. Brookhaven Bearcats
Aside from the two losses last season in City League play, the Bearcats have been the
most dominant team in either division. This past season's crop of seniors was one of the
best Brookhaven has seen, yet they only managed a first round playoff exit. Right now
the wild card is who will coach this team. If the job stays "in house", the Bearcats should
not skip a beat. If the job is given to an "outsider", how will they be received?
3. Eastmoor Warriors
Is this the year? One thing is for certain the Warriors are proven winners. Since Coach
Miranda arrived. his worst year has been a seven win season. The Warriors by far
return the most talent, but have yet to earn that signature win to get them over the hump.
4. Beechcroft Cougars
Similar Eastmoor, year in and year out, Beechcroft has amassed a minimum of seven
wins per season. This dates back to the 1999 season, including several playoff
appearances. Yet it seems all we hear about in the North is Brookhaven. After winning
the North title in 2006, Beechcroft was beaten handily by Brookhaven in 2007. This year
may be a very different story, as many of Beechcroft's key players were only sophomores
and juniors in 2007.
