Walnut Ridge Dominates Independence Quad Match
Walnut Ridge beat Independence 33 - 22 and also beat Eastmoor Academy 48 - 12. The final match with
Linden McKinley came down to the wire. Senior heavy-weight wrestler Nick Thompson pinned the Linden
McKinley heavy-weight wrestler resulting in a score of WRHS 30 and LMHS 28. Linden McKinley had a 103
lbs. match that resulted in a default win which took LMHS to the lead and final score of 34 - 30.
Other winners were:
Perry Jenkins 189 lbs.
Tysean Johnson 215 lbs
Marsean Ross 171 lbs.
Lamar Ross 189 lbs.
LaVelle Stearns 215 lbs.

Stearns and Ross Take First Place at Casey Frederick Tournament
Lamar Ross 189 lb and LaVelle Stearns 215 lb won first place in their respective weight class. Lamar
Ross was also awarded MVP of the tournament. Other winners were Nick Thompson, Heavy Weight 4th
Place, Perry Jenkins, 4th Place 189 lbs, Jarrin Hickman 3rd place 171 lbs, Marson Ross, 4th place 171 lbs,
Grant Johnson, 3rd place 112 lbs, Michael Pham 4th place 135 lbs, and Stanley Bingham 4th place 130
lbs.
Overall, the team finished third behind Centennial, first place and Brookhaven, second place. There were
10 teams from central Ohio who participated in the tournament.
