I hear it in the stands at games, on the message board, and through people’s mouths; "the coach should do this", "the
AD should do that", and the usual "Columbus Public Schools don’t care."

I was told when I started this site it would not work.  People would say, “city kids don’t have computers”, “they will
never pay”, and “the administration is lazy and won't help”.  In just under five months we have proved them all wrong.
In the City we are constantly being prejudged.  At the same time, people are prejudging our administration downtown
and the athletic directors.

Back in May when I sent out letters to schools to notify them of the inception of the website, I realized a lot of
administrators get a bad wrap.  It all started with a phone call from the Athletic Director (AD) of Walnut Ridge, Tony
Tucker.  He told me he was glad I started the site and actually gave me the number of Tracy Hicks, who works in the
Athletics office.  Mr. Tucker's call was followed by several other calls and emails from coaches and athletic directors.  I
have yet to meet one of those “lazy administrators."

In fact, there are athletic directors that go above and beyond for their schools.  One I have personally seen is
Anthony Brown of Eastmoor.  I have seen Mr. Brown frequently work 60 plus hours in a week.  On the
columbuscityleage.com message board someone attacked an AD saying that they don’t put the hours in.  If you
include school hours plus the after school events that AD’s handle, then you would be hard pressed to find any AD
that doesn’t work at least 40 hours.

A lot of people complain about AD’s not knowing what it is like to be an AD.  Sure some AD’s make mistakes as does
everyone in the world; but to attack them is wrong.  Next time you feel the urge to bad mouth an Administrator or AD,
send them a letter, email or give them a call.  Make them aware that you take issue with something that is going on.
Many times people just complain to themselves and the issue never makes it to the AD or Administrator.  Any time I
have asked of something from an Administrator or AD, I always get a timely response.

To all the people that say Columbus Public Schools doesn’t care, I disagree.  Tracy Hicks and Cheryl Craft, who both
work in the main office, have done so much to help the site that words can't express how grateful I am to them.  Oh,
and I have heard people say negative things about Mike Rotunda, but when I met him he was a very nice man.  He
said he liked the site and expressed a few concerns he had, which someone in his position should do.  I never ran into
the negatives that everyone claimed would be coming.

We all as administrators, players, coaches, and fans need to work together to make the Columbus City League, the
premier league in Ohio.  It won’t happen if we are divided; it must be a united effort.  To all the doubters of
columbuscityleague.com and our supporters, I have some numbers you might want to see.  Over 47,000 page views
in the last 30 days and 330 registered members in just five months.  www.columbuscityleague.com is not just a
website; it is a movement of people who are all willing to do what it takes to make the league the best league in the
state.
